My Sweet Orange tree

O meu pe de Iaranja Lima = My Sweet Orange tree
By: Jose Mauro De Vaconcelos
(Translated into Persian as: My Beautiful Tree, Derakhte Zibaye Man)

If you REALLY want to know about Poverty, pure Love, Feelings, Emotions & Connections…Go get this book & stick to it…Believe me, it’s definitely worth your time & money. Even if you’re not, God forbid, into reading books & novels & stories & you’re not a novel-reader in general, you should still read it...Reading this book has almost nothing to do with being interested in literature or novels or something, it’s purely sentimental. It’s all about true feelings, the meaning of real love & the meaning of spiritual connection…It’s not just an amusing story, but something more than that, something more profound…Something that will truly touch your heart & affect you as long as you live. Let me give you a general view of the whole story, I know I can never create the same atmosphere, but better than nothing. Besides, I want to mention some interesting points at the end of it.
At first, when you start reading this book, it may sound a little bit childish to you & you may start cursing me for introducing a nursery rhymes collection for you; well, don’t do that! Keep reading & you’ll see how you’re going to stick to it.
The first scenes are about a VERY poor Brazilian family, with lots of kids (Like any other poor families…), & the narrative of the whole story is a little boy from this miserable family. He starts telling you about their heart-breaking misery & their bad, bad life & a little bit about the society of Brazil at that time. In these parts you will FEEL the contrasts between the rich & the poor. I know, this is not new at all, differences between the poor & the poor, it’s so obvious!!! But hey, you will FEEL it, you will LIVE with it & it will TEARS you up inside, you will never forget what you read about the poor people in this book. Since it’s not about angels & demons & it’s something REAL, it MOVES you…It makes you think! Honestly, ask yourselves, how many times have you cried for the poor, miserable people?
How many times have you cried for injustice that you always see everywhere? Besides, it imposes very interesting questions & gives you the answers indirectly & so very moving conclusions; here are some of them: Does Jesus Christ care only for rich people? Well, he seems to do so…Is it the justice that we all hope is one of the God’s traits; many people are dying of hunger while some others throw their leftovers away? There is NO justice…Such thing doesn’t exist at all.
While reading this book, or we’d better call it this masterpiece, you cry. Either you are a sensitive person or a logical person; you will cry your hearts out! The only ones who are not going to cry while reading this are Hitler, Saddam & Bush, I guess; the ones who they themselves made this world such a violent, cruel place by burying the poor & feeding the rich & of course, killing innocent people & drinking their blood as red wine.
Believe it or not, I didn’t mention the names of those pigs intentionally; I wasn’t going to write about politics, wars or whatever; they just came by themselves! & generally I do hate Politics & issues related to it…anyway… (Oh, I talk too much!)…
The things I’ve told you so far are about the first parts of the book that give you shocking, heart-breaking images of poverty & it also is full of emotions, restraint ones especially.
Now about the second part of the book, which I believe is more interesting & sentimental than the first one; the boy, the same boy, finds a True connection & a heavenly love relationship with a Portuguese millionaire. They begin to care for each other a lot & their relationship turns out to be deeper than the one of a real parent & his kid. & they got this kind of spiritual connection & feeling; as a result, they have so much fun together & begin to love each other more & more. Purely sentimental love, (hey, nothing about child abuse or anything like that!!! The millionaire wasn’t a pervert!!).
While reading about their relationship & the fun they have together, your veins are filled with a sweet joy & you feel happy that this melancholic story isn’t all about losing; but, don’t go too fast…It is all about losing!
One day, when the boy is going to school, thinking about his dear friend & feeling happy that even he, who used to be a very dissatisfied kid, has something to live for, sees an accident in the street… His car was crashed & his corpse is there lying on the street…People are around him, shocked & frightened…Death is frightening. He can’t believe his eyes; wants to get closer to his beloved dead body, but people don’t let him do that. He gets mad. After that terrible event, he is almost dead…Both physically & spiritually…He can’t get out of bed & his poor family is waiting desperately for his death. Now they are kind & nice to him, they don’t want to lose him at all, but they are almost sure that death is knocking at his door…But after a week or two, he is miraculously recovering & fights for his life though it’s meaningless to him, now. Yes, he won’t die, he’s much too young to die, but his heart is weeping since then…
Okay, I’m not going to write about all these sad, sad things which unfortunately really exist, till morning. Today was kind of special for me & I don’t want to ruin it! Let me feel good!
After all, I strongly suggest you read this book, I confess it makes you really sad, but it’s worth it, you’re not going to lose. & it’s not right to be happy all the time, is it?!! Neither is it right to feel sad only for our personal interests. So let’s care about each other.
